getting back on track

Perhaps I'm a bit late with resolutions, or maybe I'm getting an early start. Or maybe I'm seeing my birthday in a week as a 'new year.' Whatever the reason, now that I've got my financial situation an itsy bit under control, it's time to turn my attention toward my health. I've discovered www.fitday.com and have been using it to keep track of my weight, activity and nutritional goals. (It's free! And you can add your own foods.) I've made some progress, but it's definitely been eye opening to have to hunt down nutritional information for restaurants when I eat out. What I thought was a nice, healthy meal at a local steak house turned out to be over 1000 calories! Keeping track of what I'm eating has definitely helped me to make more informed choices.

While looking up information on how many calories I reall should be eating, I also came across Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle, which contained a things that I knew, but also quite a bit more background that made the things I knew make sense. If you don't mind reading the 300+ pages, it's really worth it.

FOR TODAY August 4, 2008
Outside My Window...
it's dark. The windows are closed because the air conditioning is on. It was a hot day!

I am thinking...
about the choices people make. (I'm watching Heroes. It's an interesting commentary on society.)

I am thankful for...
having enough to be able to hire new employees and share our enough with others.

From the kitchen...
I am still eating out of the pantry and freezer. Even when we had company over this weekend, the only addition was some fresh corn from the store.

I am wearing...
black pants and a "Life is Good" t-shirt. Sunny side up!

I am creating...
room in my bookshelves by passing along books using bookmooch.

I am going...
to try and get to West Coast Swing lessons this month. It's been a while.

I am reading...
Managing with Power by Jeffrey Pfeffer. I haven't yet finished On Food and Cooking.

I am hoping...
that this week won't be too hectic as far as rent collection weeks go.

I am hearing...
the low hum of the air conditioner

Around the house...
I need to send out my Creative Memories things and my bookmooch books.

One of my favorite things...
is hanging out with G in the evenings.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:
dance lessons, work, and finishing off the rest of Heroes Season 1.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...
